Brian Ritchie is the CTO for XeoHealth. responsible for overseeing the technology roadmap, architecture, and systems infrastructure. Prior to XeoHealth, Brian was CTO & Chief Architect at Payspan where he designed and architected large scalable multi-tenant systems. Brian has over 24 years of technology experience developing software and managing technology teams in various industries. He has been active in the development community giving presentations to local user groups and code camps. Brian is also the author of RavenDB High Performance published by PACKT in 2013. Mr. Ritchie holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska.

Event-driven systems provide simplified integration, easy notifications, inherent scalability and improved fault tolerance. In this session we'll cover the basics of building event driven systems and then dive into utilizing Apache Kafka for the infrastructure. Kafka is a fast, scalable, fault-taulerant publish/subscribe messaging system developed by LinkedIn. We will cover the architecture of Kafka and demonstrate code that utilizes this infrastructure.
