I started my career in 1995 by founding an ISP in Jacksonville, FL out of my garage. I have worked - sometimes accidentally - in the enterprise transformation space now for the past six years. In that time, I've (unfortunately) worked in highly regulated organizations who had massive manual scale via massive overseas labor. I have worked in medium-sized businesses who created greenfield environments for net new open source-based microservice applications with early attempts at Swarm, and I have worked in the public sector doing computer water modeling for a hundred plus square mile area. All of these experiences taught me a few things:
1) People are everything.
2) Culture comes from the people but must be supported by the organization.
3) tools are never the answer, but they can be part of the solution.
For the past almost 12 months I've worked in Contino as an Account Principal with businesses of all sizes to show them how to use these learned lessons - through agile transformations, through squad model implementations, and through SRE implementations.
